A few weeks ago I came across a turquoise promotional piece that was REALLY high on my wish list in awful condition. It was really hard for me to leave it, but I did. A few days later I went back and it was still there, so I broke and bought it! Even though it's beat up, I'm happy to have it in my collection since I don't know when I'll ever come across the piece again! In the two years I've been collecting that was the first time I saw it! :)Jeni Bakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14766510979539197035noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6761058064933339220.post-58058910049117793332010-11-17T18:29:16.870-08:002010-11-17T18:29:16.870-08:00I typically pass on them if they're in really ...I typically pass on them if they're in really bad shape. It breaks my heart too. Like Erin, I'm shocked at the prices thrift shops will put on them in super bad condition. The only exception I have is if the piece is in bad shape but has a lid, I'll buy it. Lids are like the holy grail sometimes!Flohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15175779753504658921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6761058064933339220.post-15167347029546118902010-11-17T18:04:08.962-08:002010-11-17T18:04:08.962-08:00This happens to me all the time. I actually get angry that the stores have the nerve to still sell them for the prices that they do. I know they're still usable, but we love the beauty of Pyrex and when the beauty isn't there anymore, the thrill is gone. Let's have a group hug.
ErinToronto Yardsalerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16665905682609904488noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6761058064933339220.post-51542470735305325502010-11-17T17:00:34.342-08:002010-11-17T17:00:34.342-08:00I've become more selective, and I try to buy w...I've become more selective, and I try to buy what's in very good condition (or if I'm pretty sure I can clean the gunk off...and I've been wrong about that a couple times). The couple pieces I have that are worn, I just use them and don't worry about damaging them any further.Paulettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06181665241824945247noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6761058064933339220.post-31261981605156609082010-11-17T15:59:04.285-08:002010-11-17T15:59:04.285-08:00i usually walk around the thrift store holding it ...i usually walk around the thrift store holding it for a while. when i'm ready to check out i'll know if my heart just isn't feeling it or not. its all about intuition i think. but of course if its really damaged, its kind of always a no-go for me.Katiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03292862665255126337noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6761058064933339220.post-21504723800865123582010-11-17T15:17:54.669-08:002010-11-17T15:17:54.669-08:00If they were just worn, but still usable and cheap...If they were just worn, but still usable and cheap - I would buy it.
BUT if they are worn and the inside glaze is gone I would not buy it or if it looks like it was used to store items in the garage (oil, etc).AmyC ~https://www.blogger.com/profile/16658036252297553372noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6761058064933339220.post-31328015026667967632010-11-17T14:25:03.621-08:002010-11-17T14:25:03.621-08:00I understand!
