New Pyrex Collective & Pyrex's 100th Anniversary
Hello Pyrex people! I'm just writing to let you know that we have just opened up PCIV. I wish we could somehow amalgamate all of these blogs. If anyone can pay off someone at Blogger so that we can do that, or if there's just a simpler way of making this happen, please email me (Canadian Erin) at monkeyintherocket@yahoo.ca. Here is the link for PCIV Pyrex Collective IV . Thanks again to Jeni of In Color Order for her amazing photography and photo montage.
I am letting Pyrex lovers know about a film that has been made about manufacturing in American. Pyrex features in this film. Please check out the YouTube link and the people behind this project are inviting Pyrex people (us) to fire off any questions regarding Pyrex, including new Pyrex.
Here is the press release information: Pyrex joins a national movement in This Built America that is devoted to supporting American companies and American-made products. AOL is proud to support the effort along with sponsor Ford Trucks. Through the year, the editorial and video teams will explore 50 states in 50 weeks to bring 50 stories of the people who are bringing back manufacturing to America. The platform is produced in coordination with Man Made Content.
Here is the YouTube link:

Sir Thrift-A-Lot's Pyrex Haiku!
You're really testing my skills here, I haven't written one of these since like grade 3!
Red, yellow, green, blue
Primary set I need you
5 years now you're due
I don't have a grime piece of Pyrex, but I do have one that had utensil marks that I cleaned up... I bought it to do some testing (I feel like a mad scientist! ). UTENSIL MARKS & HARD WATER STAINS AWAY!
Well, I am having a problem with my phone, so no after photos... maybe in the near future?
& can you believe I do not think I have a beautiful set of primary bowls? Hah.

Let the Contest Begin!
Alright pretty Pyrex people.
We had a few great contest ideas. Here's what we want:
1. A photo of your most baked on, caked on Pyrex that has stubborn oven stains, etc.
2. A Haiku about your favourite Pyrex score. Being a teacher, I like the language tie-in. Here's a reminder about Haiku. It's poem with three lines. Traditionally, the first line has five syllables, the second has seven, and the third has five.
Please title your post something with the word 'Contest' in it, so I don't miss it. This Friday I'll take the names of everyone who entered from each Pyrex Collective site. Names will be cut up and put in a Pyrex bowl. I'll get my son to pick the winner.
* If I only get one response from a PC site, they will win. I will email the lucky winners to get mailing info which I will forward to the good people at Bar Keepers Friend.
Please use one of their products to clean your grubby Pyrex and post an 'after' photo. Thanks to Sir Thrift-a-lot for being such a proper contest idea generator!
Have fun and rock on!
Erin

Bar Keepers Friend Contest
Hello my Pyrex Buddies,
Over the years people have written about the proper way to clean vintage Pyrex. Bar Keepers Friend is a name that has popped up frequently as a cleaning agent that works for removing some stains from vintage Pyrex.
I was approached in good spirit by a representative from Bar Keepers Friend to do some publicity for the product. They have generously offered the gift basket you see pictured for each of the three Pyrex Collectives.
Do you have an idea for a contest?
Please email me with ideas. I will take submissions by the end of the weekend and hope to launch the contest next Monday.
Sincerely,
Canadian Erin

Pyrex FSOT in Toronto
Pyrex For Sale or Trade in Toronto
I live downtown Toronto (closest subway - College Park). All are currently listed on Kijiji. You can contact me through the email in my profile on blogger.
You know, it's funny. I listed some Pyrex pieces on Kijiji, lidless for $5 Spring Blossom Green 475. No bites & I was moving, so I just donated them. Priced $9.99 at the thrift store, they didn't sit for too long. One longer than the other, but you could have got 2 for the price of 1 & not paid any taxes if you had bought from me!
Thanks for looking...
will post some more items for sale or trade on my blog in the near future.

Pyrex For Sale!
Pyrex For Sale!
I am posting these on Toronto Kijiji, but would like to bring attention right here, too. As I go through all my boxes, will probably list a Blue Horizon casserole, maybe a Seville, pink cake pan & some Butterprint, too. I'm not even sure what else has got to go.
I am downsizing my collection as I am downsizing my apartment size & I seriously can't believe the amount of stuff I accumulated. I am also selling some New Kids on the Block dolls & Pee Wee Herman DVDs! Ridding myself of my CD collection. This isn't like me, but whatever! To be honest, I'll be using the money to buy more stuff that is on my wishlist!

New Years Request
Happy after the holidays, fellow pyrex lovers!
I hope everyone had their pyrex wishes come true or at least got a nice new (to you) piece of pyrex gifted to you.
Like many of us of the first pyrex blog, I have not posted anything for a really really long time as I haven't been thrifting in months. Ok settle down. Stop gasping. Yes! Such a thing is possible when (and this is really a legitimate excuse) you have so much pyrex (I believe that I'm over the 400 piece mark) that what is at the thrifts you already own. (I keep track by pattern as a list on my iPhone). Yes there are many pieces that I don't own, but for the time and gas money it takes to go peruse the thrifts, I find that if I need to get my pyrex fix that I end up at antique malls.
The good and the bad at the antique malls: prices are higher, but often there is a selection of pieces which is great if you are trying to complete a set or two. Often this ends up being less expensive than etsy or ebay when you factor for the crazy cost of shipping.
That being said, I've got two bowl sets that I'm close to completing and would be interested in trading pyrex if anyone was interested. I am looking for a snowflake garland 441 to complete a set to gift to a friend, and also a red homestead 443 to complete a set for myself
I've got duplicates of a few pieces and others that I would be ok to let go for a decent trade. Please feel free to get in touch if you are interested in trading. Extra brownie points for you if you happen to live in the san francisco bay area and can do a local trade.
Thanks pyrex friends!!

Primary Dots- Complete!
I finally completed my Primary Dots set in February of this year. I collected each piece from a different source. The often pricey Green Dot 404 was my final piece- an Etsy score for only $50. The only one I found "in the wild" was the Yellow Dot 402 and it was at a local antique mall for $10. I bought the Orange Dot 401 on eBay for $9.99. Blue Dot 403 was also an eBay purchase for $26.06- an auction win. So, my Primary Dots together cost me $100.04. Not too bad?! Now for some Pyrex eye candy! (for more of my photos, feel to check out and follow my Flickr- you can find me here!
Long time, No posts!
I feel so ashamed as an avid vintage Pyrex collector- it has been ages since I've blogged here! I will share my latest find. I had stopped frequenting my two local antique malls because they were Pyrex-dry. I decided to stop by one a couple of weeks ago and I spotted this beauty after passing it up once. I had actually never seen this one before so I was intrigued. I immediately came home and went to my Flickr for reference. It is unofficially called Ginger Oriental. It is a 475 promo casserole. It originally came with the classic clear lid and a bamboo cradle. Mine is MINT but no cradle. At only $19 I was totally okay with no cradle! I also scored one of the last few pieces I need to have the complete Butterfly Gold 1 collection. It is minty and was only $7. So, sorry I've been MIA. I will try to go back and share more of my Pyrex adventures! Hope everyone is having a wonderful season and Happy Pyrex-ing! For more photos of my Pyrex collection, feel free to visit and follow me on Flickr: you can find me at Angie722 !

Moon Deco
Hello again,
Above, you will find my new Moon Deco casserole dish. I just think it's the coolest Pyrex design ever. It was also my most expensive single purchase, but there is a story...
We were at the Southwarks antique mall in Cambridge, ON last week. My husband came walking towards me with the dish in his hands and asked if $28 was a fair price. I almost grabbed it out of his hands. "Yes!" The truth is that I don't know what's a fair price, but I do know that at another booth at the same place, the exact same dish has been sitting on the shelf for at least a year. The seller is asking over $80.00 for it. To me, that's grocery shopping money. I was going to treat myself to it down the road if I came into windfall money, but who knows if that day would have come, or even if I could have ever justified spending that much on one piece of Pyrex.
The moral of the story once again is that you have to keep on looking because you just don't know what you'll ever find.
Canadian Erin
