Pyrex Daisy/Sunflower
Erin posted about a Daisy/Sunflower piece earlier this week and it reminded me I had one to talk about as well. This one was for sale in my etsy shop. I had found it with the stand. I don't know if that originally came with it or not. It's a divided dish and I never used it...what do you cook in a divided dish? I'd really love to hear what you guys use it for, I'm stumped.
My Sister in Law saw it and asked if I'd sell it to her sans shipping because we live near each other. She said "I really love Pyrex and my mom has the sunflower set. I've adored it for my whole life!" I had no idea she was into Pyrex I can't wait to talk to her about this!
I will just give it to her, I can't see myself charging family for Pyrex!
My mom used the divided casseroles for heating leftovers. Not enough of anything for a big'un, so the divided ones are perfect.
ReplyDeleteBut cooking in it? No idea.
I wish I could remember what pattern hers was. Is. Still in use, forty years later. Maybe she'll will it to me?
I haven't cooked in a divided casserole yet, but I could see one being used to divide a casserole between kids and adults, say having mushrooms and peppers in the grown up side but leaving them out for the kids. I usually put fruit in mine, like watermelon on one side and honeydew on the other, or cantaloupe and blueberries, etc. It looks great.
ReplyDeleteServing broccoli and cauliflower - because, Heaven's, if they touch!
ReplyDeleteI would use it at least twice a week for nuking 2 different vegetables. There are thinks DH doesn't like, and things I don't like that he does, so I use two Corning petite pans for our veggies. I love that dish and would be thrilled to find one like it!
ReplyDeleteYou can use it as a serving dish for nuts and candies or different types of dips or vegetables; it's also useful when you want to alter a recipe slightly, I have made baked ziti with meat on one side, and without on the other, for a vegetarian friend : )
ReplyDeleteI use my divided dish for leftovers or for serving appetizers...I think they are way too shallow for cooking anything!
ReplyDeleteWow - what a beauty! As for charging family members... It's a little like taking your uncle to court for spilling hot coffee on your lap while driving in his car. I guess it could happen...
ReplyDeleteBest,
Erin
such a bright and happy piece!
ReplyDeleteI've used my divided dishes for serving taco fixings...ground beef on one side, refried beans on the other. Pretty and handy!
ReplyDeleteI have the 2 1/2q size in the same pattern. I got mine at a thrift store and it came with the exact stand.
