We gather here together to remember our dear friend Butterfly Gold 2 Bake Serve Store 473. Although he wasn't with us long, he served faithfully and without complaint; always showing his cheerful, sunny disposition. He gallantly gave his life in service to his family. As he fell from a shattering height (no pun intended) of three feet, he tried his very best to save the soup that was inside but, alas, he could not. Let us have a moment of silence as we remember our dear friend.
Is it weird that I don't even want to throw away the pieces?
rip...
ReplyDeleteyou should send a piece to http://ibreakplates.com/ and have some jewelry made out of it. you could always have it close to your heart... *sniffle*
Mosaic! Make a Butterfly Gold mosaic!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry for your loss ... perhaps you can make a mosaic tombstone.
ReplyDeleteOMG! How did I not know about this blog?? I found you through Vonlipi, and now I am following and you are on my blogroll. I am OBSESSED with Pyrex. Stop by my blog, and you'll see an occasional Pyrex guest appearance.
ReplyDeletePS: Sorry for your loss.

RIP.
ReplyDeleteSorry, BTDT and I too find it hard to rid myself of the pieces.
I am sure he is in a better place. He is in Pyrex heaven feeling no pain. I am sure he is looking down and watching over all the other Pyrex on your shelf to keep them safe from harm. My deepest sympathies are with you at this difficult time. Just remember that even though he is no longer serving soup on your table, he will still be in your heart. "(
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it lived a good life and brought warmth and happiness to many people. I'd say it's in a good place now, but let's not kid ourselves.
ReplyDeleteFeeling your pain,
Erin
*a moment of silence*
ReplyDeletehe lived a good life with you doing what he loved most - serving delicious food for your family rather than being abandoned and unappreciated at a thrift store. my condolences!
how sad :/ but i agree with victoria. try and make something cool out of it!
ReplyDeleteRIP faithful Pyrex!
ReplyDeleteIt is a sad day indeed that bid a fond farewell to 'our dear friend Butterfly Gold 2 Bake Serve Store 473' He gave his life in service of his family!
ReplyDeleteOh no! At least he went doing what he loved.
ReplyDeleteI've got its twin in my etsy shop when you're ready to love again.

so sad! my thoughts are with you and the rest of your collection.
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. I lost a favorite Corningware pan recently. Perhaps we need a support group for those of us that have loved and lost.
ReplyDeleteI more than understand! I remember when I broke a glass of my grandmother's - I actually started calling glassblowers to see if it could be fixed Something you love, that has heightened monetary value besides, with the extra added bonus of not being made anymore...? Oh, wait - I'm only making things worse! Sorry for your loss...
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for your condolences and lovely thoughts. It's very comforting to our family and all his siblings.
ReplyDelete@Ana: The necklace is a great idea and makes me want to learn to silver solder for myself.
@Victoria: I've been wanting to learn how to mosaic for a while now...
I'm afraid though, that working with glass would be extremely dangerous and daring. It's not like pottery where the chances of being cut are slim.
@Barbara: I give you my sympathies as well and yes, there should be a support group.
Aw Betty I'm so sorry :( This story brought a tear to my eye!
ReplyDeleteOh NO! Poor baby!! this post cracked me up.
ReplyDeleteoh sorry No pun intended. It just came out that way. LOL
ReplyDeleteSoooo, if there was soup in it, did you wash the pieces? Not that doing so would be obsessive or anything, well, not for a Pyrex junkie.
