I am guessing that this piece was made as an experiment at the Pyrex factory. The pattern is somewhat off-center, but the biggest giveaway is that it is RED! To the best of my knowledge Homestead only came in blue and brown. The seller of this piece was in Charleroi, PA which is the home of Pyrex. This furthers my belief that it was an experimental piece. Anyway, it was a great deal at $10, and I love adding unusual pieces to my collection.
Does anybody else have any unusual pieces? I came across a green Woodland bowl once (still kicking myself for not picking up that one!).
Very interesting! I haven't come across any strange or unique pieces, however I'd love some green Woodland!
ReplyDeleteI have a casserole lid that has a hot air balloon etched on the top. I have asked around and I have searched the web but no luck. No one knows. I have even thought maybe someone etched it themselves but I am not totally convinced this is then case. Oh well at least it makes my collection unique. " )
