Cleaning the Daisies!

Hi Pyrex friends!  I recently found this little gem of Pink Daisy goodness at a thrift and have embarked on a very lengthy journey of spiffing it back up to its original glory!

I have documented the various stages of cleanliness over on my blog, and while it now looks much better than it did when this photograph was taken, I still need some help...

Anyone who loves a good makeover story or has any cleaning suggestions might want to pop over and take a peek to see what I've done and what still needs doing-I'd really appreciate any tips and tricks!

Sometimes Traffic Isn't So Bad

In my attempt to avoid the bumper to bumper line-up on the way home today, I decided to stop in at a lesser visited thrift store (at least by pyrexiacs).  I only visit from time to time since they have odd hours and I've never found much pyrex there.

Lo and behold, I came across the complete golden grapes chip and dip set AND the pink daisy space saver.  Both in great condition.  Even better, the prices harkened back to the days when thrift store prices were actually...umm...thrifty!  I barely remember those days.

I'm not a huge fan of the gold leaf, but I do love the delphite blue interior.  So pretty.
And the fact that it was designed as a chip and dip set actually elicited the first "hmm, cool" pyrex reaction from my husband.  That's big.

The whole set for a mere $5

Thank you to the lovely person who actually took good care of these guys!

Pink Daisy Divided Dish!

Hello Pyrex Collective! It's SixBalloons here!

I had a great thrift experience on Saturday at a church basement sale - the volunteers were so nice and friendly. They even held their composure when a bull in the china shop came whipping through, piling up his shopping basket with items, asking the ladies for a discount and negotiating on every single item. Sigh. I almost piped up to give my two cents about the low prices, but focussed instead on the task of rummaging. Luckily, he missed this:

I entered Sale-ing in Denver's giveaway for a chance at getting my first light pink Pyrex piece, but my patience paid off when I found this piece in great condition.

Stop by and check out my full post at SixBalloons!

Xmas with Pyrex...

Xmas with Pyrex was a lot more low key than last year...

Last year was a retro appetizer supper complete with cocktail weiners wrapped in bacon...

Maple Tarlets in Pink Daisy...

Tangerines in a big momma Delphite bowl (Pyrex of course)

It's not that I don't LOVE Pyrex anymore but different year, different meal (and Pyrex)...

Cheese fondue appetizer, vintage tablecloth and Pyrex serving bowls.

Bread dressing in Turquoise Snowflake

Fruit Squares in Charcoal Snowflake

Ok maybe I didn't use tons of Pyrex in my Xmas meal...But I sure use it all the time :)
