New Pyrex

Hey y'all I need some insight! This weekend I went to antiquing and found this little gem for $20. I have seen it only one other time in Alabama for $40 and that only included the one large bowl and lid, but this one included large bowl, lid, and 7 smaller bowls. I haven't seen this in any of my Pyrex books so I was wondering if anyone knew what it's called? I know its a member of the primary colors collection but I'm not sure what it is. Thanks for looking and I appreciate any feed back!

  1. That is a red Hostess set. I think the official name is Hostess Casserole and Table Set.

  2. Looks like a good score. It does appear in the photos to have dishwasher white residue. Try a magic eraser on them, it really helps. I have the casserole and lid but no bowls! hugs, Linda

  3. Linda - that is residue & not wear? I've always stayed clear of Pyrex that has the dishwashed look, but if there is a chance to make it look prettier, than I am missing out!

amberkugle, if you choose to use the Magic Eraser, please post some pics! I'd love to see the difference!

  4. Really, the white will come off with magic erasers! Maybe I will go run and pick up those pieces I have passed on recently that are like this! Does it bring any shine back to it? That would be my biggest concern...

  5. Oh yes, please show us some after pics, because I too have passed on pieces with white.

  6. Definitely post some after pics from cleaning. Passed up a lot of pieces due to fading.

  8. I have this! I don't have the little bowls/ramekins that go with it. I paid $10 on ebay for it with the lid, it's bright red. I had no idea it was hard to come by. I have the yellow hostess set too but it's missing one little dish and I don't know if the yellow was supposed to have a lid or not, I found it without one. It's larger than the red one. I found it at an estate sale for $20
