Is that pattern Butterprint..?

My body went through it's regular Pyrex spotting motions: heart skipped a beat when I saw the spout & famous curves from the end of the aisle, legs starting moving faster by themselves, trampling anyone who dares get into my way.

The squinting motion wasn't what I was expecting, can you believe this was once a beautiful Butterprint bowl? A little gasp came too when I saw they were charging $2.99.

Does anybody work at a thrift store? Do bowls in these conditions actually sell?

  1. I'd like to know if they sell too - I wouldn't even donate something that bad!

  2. sure they sell, I saw one walk out of the Sally Ann when I was there at lunch yesterday
it doesn't hurt the purpose and if you need a bowl, $3 is cheap for a heavy duty one....

  3. I'm sure they do, if you really need a bowl you will buy it...Pyrex is good no matter if the outer wore off...maybe there is someone who in need of a great bowl and doesn't really care about the patterns...just saying...

  4. Oh, Sir, it breaks my heart too when you think of what it must have looked like rolling out of the factory in its glory days. I leave them there too but they are always gone later so, someone buys them. My friend, who is a glassblower, says Pyrex glass is the best. Maybe they melt it down or something?

  5. Poor little bowl! It's trying so hard to still do it's job and be a beautiful Pyrex Butterprint! lol

  6. late to reply, and I don't work thrift, but yup, or at least, Id buy it. I like bowls. I like glass. It's still functional, and nearly small child proof, and cheap, and that's all I'm after at the moment :)

  7. I have a couple of those that I use quite frequently. I don't have to worry about damaging them in everyday use, and since the finish is already ruined, I feel no guilt about tossing them into the dishwasher!
