Wherefore Art Thou, Pyrex Collective 1?

Hullo everyone, SixBalloons here!

I just wanted to ask how everyone's Pyrex collecting is going. Are we becoming more choosy at the thrift, or has buying Pyrex become too popular for us to score great deals? It sure has been quiet here lately.

I find I am buying less, for instance if it is a divided dish, I usually leave it behind. I have a can't say no list that includes some patterns, fridgies, and measuring cups... Old or new! How has your collecting changed since you joined the Pyrex Collective?

  1. My collecting has changed for sure! I'm only collecting a few patterns now and I rarely see Pyrex in the thrifts anymore. When I do they are ugly worn out and pricey! I love my collection and should do a post on my favorite pieces or something since I haven't added anything in ages!

  2. My collecting has definitely changed! I have so much of it that I've run out of room for it. I will only buy a piece now if it's a rare hard to find piece, or in a color I really love.

  3. A lot of the people of original Pyrex Collective don't seem to blog anymore, or as much... so they can barely even get stuff on their own blog, let alone PC.

Mine has slowed in the past month, but I have added many great finds this year, so I have excited about that. Most of the thrifts have had less than great condition Pyrex lately. Used & abused.

I was wanting to be a part of PC3. Where things are more lively!

    1. Yes! Things have really tapered off on some blogs. I hope people come back to their blogs and the collective.

  4. Oh yes, my collection has only grown.. along with the rest of my collection of everything else. To the point where my BF has gotten a little angry. We have actually had the hoarder conversation. I cried. I'm actually like some of the hoarders on TV. I come home with bags & just throw them there & don't look back in them for months. I've started to feel guilty after buying stuff from the thrifts, too. But I can't help myself. My BF told me "no more glasses". 11 more have entered the house since he said that..

  5. I have acquired a few pieces in last few months but found that less seems to be available unless you go to an antique market. I have not been blogging much in the last year and have yet to post on the Pyrex Collective. I will have to rectify this situation....

  6. Yes, my Pyrex collecting has definitely changed since I joined the PC. I have all of the Pyrex that can be displayed in my kitchen and living room without it being crowded and junky looking. I also have pretty much all of the types of pieces I actually need for cooking (bowls, casseroles, lasagna pans, etc.). Another reason is that I am not finding good pieces when I do thrift and I am thrifting less often because I was bringing too many things into our house and it was becoming very cluttered. Because of all of these reasons, I am buying less and decluttering my whole house...it feels great. I have had to tell myself repeatedly, you have enough Pyrex! :)

  7. I've been finding a lot less affordable pyrex in the wild in the last year. It's a real bummer! But I'm planning on posting soon -- I went to the Corning museum last month! :)

  8. I have got a few new pieces from the op shops, but lately either the prices are way too high or the pieces have been way too abused.

  9. When I first started collecting, I would buy every piece I saw, I just can't do that anymore, where would I put it!! I will buy if it is something special, and I still love to look at it!

  10. I'm getting choosier, as well. There are only certain patterns or colors that I'll buy (except for the odd promotional piece). I hardly find any Pyrex worth buying at the thrifts anymore. :-(
