I was in St Louis last Monday for the Gypsy Caravan and after that my friend said us go to some thrift stores and we found a couple good ones, well really we went to 3 and found something at each one
I found these at a Goodwill on St Charles Rock Road.
I usually just buy the pastel colors but these were to perfect to pass up. I don't know the name maybe dogwood? OK some girls told me Spring Blossom is their name

Vintage Pyrex Hand-Illustrated Recipe Cards
Hi Everyone! Just wanted to show you these Vintage Pyrex Hand-Illustrated Recipe Cards I listed in my Etsy Shop today!
1 Set of 8 Cards - $6
2 Sets of 8 Cards - $10
Also new to the shop is my first Vintage Pyrex Poster Design, "It's Raining Pyrex"
A customer contacted me a few weeks ago and had a special request for a custom Pyrex illustration of a promo casserole they own. It is a very rare casserole...I couldn't even find any info on the web about it.
Here is the finished illustration that I put on note cards, magnets and art prints. I love the outcome!
Thanks for taking a look at my designs! Happy Thrifting!

Pyrex: Army Authorized
I have really been cutting back on what I purchase online, but I just couldn't pass this up!
Army Authorized Pyrex. Double Tough. Who knew anything like this existed? I sure didn't. Let's take a look inside!
This must have been a sample set. It's all packed away nice and neat in the original box. The inside of the lid shows that the pieces were available in either green band or red band. Come on! This is the Army! Green should be the color of choice!
The set came with 6 pieces. A dinner plate, a salad plate, 2 different bowls, and a cup and saucer.
And, since it is apparently a sales sample, each piece comes complete with an item number printed on it!
I really don't know anything more about this, but if I were to make a guess, I would say that it probably dates from the early 1960s. Has anyone else ever come across something like this? I wonder if they did blue bands for the Navy...

Lime and Pink Loaf Pans
Hello there Collective! It's SixBalloons here. Hope everyone is enjoying this Springy time of year!
I discovered recently that there are different sized loaf pans... despite the fact that I have had these two pieces for many many months!
The lime pan has a Made in Canada logo (which is imprinted in reverse on the underside) and is numbered as a 212 pan whereas the flamingo pink is made in the USA and is size number 213.
I wonder if this has ever come up as an issue for those who collect the pans for their beautiful stacking displays!
If you'd like to read about the two lime pans (loaf and rectangular baker) that I found in the same day at two different thrifts, please feel free to read on at http://sixballoons.blogspot.com/2012/05/pyrex-lime-green.html
Happy thrift hunting everyone!

Crumble
This morning my CSA box came and it was full of strawberries and rhubarb. My mind immediately started thinking what baked goods I could make with this sweet and tart combination. Then it hit me Strawberry-Rhubarb Crumble!
I used the recipe from Smitten Kitchen. It was ridiculously easy and incredibly delicious and Pyrex being Pyrex, you can use and bake the bowl you mix the filling in. I used the kelly/grass green #024 for the filling and baking and a yellow #403 to mix the topping in. You don't have to be exact with the amount of fruit you use, I had less than the recipe called for and it was fine.
Strawberry-Rhubarb Crumble
Yields 6 to 8 servings.
For the topping:
1 1/3 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
6 tablespoons sugar
Zest of one lemon
1 stick of unsalted butter, melted
For the filling:
1 1/2 cups rhubarb, chopped into 1-inch pieces
1 quart strawberries, hulled, quartered
Juice of one lemon
1/2 cup sugar
3 to 4 tablespoons cornstarch
Pinch of salt
1. Heat oven to 375°F. Prepare topping: In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugars and lemon zest and add the melted butter. Mix until small and large clumps form. Refrigerate until needed.
2. Prepare filling: Toss rhubarb, strawberries, lemon juice, sugar, cornstarch and a pinch of salt.
3. Remove topping from refrigerator and cover fruit thickly and evenly with topping. Place pie plate on a baking sheet, and bake until crumble topping is golden brown in places and fruit is bubbling beneath, about 40 to 50 minutes.
Enjoy!

Is that pattern Butterprint..?
My body went through it's regular Pyrex spotting motions: heart skipped a beat when I saw the spout & famous curves from the end of the aisle, legs starting moving faster by themselves, trampling anyone who dares get into my way.
The squinting motion wasn't what I was expecting, can you believe this was once a beautiful Butterprint bowl? A little gasp came too when I saw they were charging $2.99.
Does anybody work at a thrift store? Do bowls in these conditions actually sell?

Hope For Goodwill?!!
I popped into Goodwill this week, and was floored when I found this beauty:
for this price:
Can you even believe it?! I was so excited! I RARELY find anything at Goodwill, and it sounds like a lot of you are having the same problem. Maybe they will start letting a few pieces slip past the ol' "send to website" line and let us get our hands on some.
I went to another thrift right after that, and found a beautiful orange Daisy 503 fridgie for $2.99. It was definitely a good day. :)

Faith Restored
a couple of months ago, i told you all about a frustrating experience
that i had at an estate sale (feb 4 "the good the bad and the ugly"). i've been
avoiding estate sales pretty much since then, but i've
gotten a little bored with just going to the thrift stores. so i mustered up
some gusto and headed out last weekend.
the results are as you see below!! omg!!!
first, i found the 441 then i hunted and hunted for about 10 minutes before i found the 444.
i just about made myself (and the two ladies running the sale)
crazy trying to find the 444 so you can imagine how
excited i was when i dug it out of the back of low cabinet.
after i found it, all i could think was that if the the woman who had
owned them had kept them in such good condition
and
that she was a bit of a pack rat
that the bracket had to be around somewhere!!!
i kept on looking and it wasn't until i was about to throw in the towel that i
spotted it from across the room on the top of the dining room buffet cabinet.
it probably didn't help that i almost fainted in excitement! i was ushered over
to the sofa to collect myself and assemble the pyrex
for the photo op above. ok, so they asked for $25 for the set which
i gladly gave them.
what a rush! its the most excitement i've had in ages!!
welcome home beautiful pyrex
Want to fill a 502?
I've got the perfect recipe for filling a 502. Homemade Cheez-Its.
I can't guarantee that it will remain full for long. These are amazing! You can find the super simple recipe HERE. My tips for this recipe are to roll them thin, make sure to get them down to 1/8". You don't need a cookie cutter you can use a knife to cute the squares and instead of Kosher salt I used sea salt and sprinkled some on the top of the crackers as well.
Enjoy!

For $3.00
I was so happy to find this gooseberry cinderella bowl at a resale shop and it was $3.00 unheard of around here. I can't believe anyone didn't get to it before me. This shop is open Wed- Sat , and people line up every Wednesday Morning before 10 am to be first to see this weeks new items. It's amazing how quick they sell things.
It does have a small blemish (chip) on the small lip, But it looks great stacked with my other cinderella bowls
That is my 1957 turquoise Mattell Chevy going in my yard sale
$30.00
