Primary Dots- Complete!

I finally completed my Primary Dots set in February of this year. I collected each piece from a different source. The often pricey Green Dot 404 was my final piece- an Etsy score for only $50. The only one I found "in the wild" was the Yellow Dot 402 and it was at a local antique mall for $10. I bought the Orange Dot 401 on eBay for $9.99. Blue Dot 403 was also an eBay purchase for $26.06- an auction win. So, my Primary Dots together cost me $100.04. Not too bad?! Now for some Pyrex eye candy! (for more of my photos, feel to check out and follow my Flickr- you can find me here!

Long time, No posts!

I feel so ashamed as an avid vintage Pyrex collector- it has been ages since I've blogged here! I will share my latest find. I had stopped frequenting my two local antique malls because they were Pyrex-dry. I decided to stop by one a couple of weeks ago and I spotted this beauty after passing it up once. I had actually never seen this one before so I was intrigued. I immediately came home and went to my Flickr for reference. It is unofficially called Ginger Oriental. It is a 475 promo casserole. It originally came with the classic clear lid and a bamboo cradle. Mine is MINT but no cradle. At only $19 I was totally okay with no cradle! I also scored one of the last few pieces I need to have the complete Butterfly Gold 1 collection. It is minty and was only $7. So, sorry I've been MIA. I will try to go back and share more of my Pyrex adventures! Hope everyone is having a wonderful season and Happy Pyrex-ing! For more photos of my Pyrex collection, feel free to visit and follow me on Flickr: you can find me at Angie722 !

Moon Deco

Hello again,

Above, you will find my new Moon Deco casserole dish. I just think it's the coolest Pyrex design ever. It was also my most expensive single purchase, but there is a story...

We were at the Southwarks antique mall in Cambridge, ON last week. My husband came walking towards me with the dish in his hands and asked if $28 was a fair price. I almost grabbed it out of his hands. "Yes!" The truth is that I don't know what's a fair price, but I do know that at another booth at the same place, the exact same dish has been sitting on the shelf for at least a year. The seller is asking over $80.00 for it. To me, that's grocery shopping money. I was going to treat myself to it down the road if I came into windfall money, but who knows if that day would have come, or even if I could have ever justified spending that much on one piece of Pyrex.

The moral of the story once again is that you have to keep on looking because you just don't know what you'll ever find.

Gooseberry JAJ

I just wanted to post this ad from eBay.

So that Gooseberry on the top with the burner & lid - it was actually sold that way? That colour in JAJ is also a nesting set? Anybody know?
It's that coral red colour. I love when people discard JAJ bowls at the thrifts after pulling back the sticker & not seeing that PYREX mark.
I once saw that four set cup set thing in the bottom, but it was like $42.

My first pyrex fridge!!

Last month I went to the Treasure Island Flea Market and I saw a unicorn figurine at a stall. As I was making my way over, someone beat me to it. I decided to look around anyways and I am so glad I did!

The seller had a lonely Spring Blossom fridge! I have not been able to find one in such pretty condition and with the lid at a price I was willing to pay! I grabbed it and held it tight! Spring Blossom is my favorite print and I'm always on the look out for anything Spring Blossom.

If you want to see what else I got at the flea market, check out my post at my blog!

Display

It's been a while since I updated my display. Before it looked like this:

Then I was prompted (forced) to rearrange the display by my cats breaking a pitcher from my other collection (Taste Setter):

I moved my cookbooks elsewhere and took down the green fabric background. I think it looks a bit tidier.

The Taste Setter collection is my personal white whale. It is impossible to find so if you ever see any I'm happy to reimburse you! (Email me)

Some Recent Finds & A Vintage Booth

It has been a long while since I've shared anything of my own here, but I always love seeing everyone else's collections and fun finds. Here is a bit of what I've found recently..

I was very excited about these because I needed a lasagne pan since my current one has rounded corners and doesn't work with straight noodles. The snowflake is also my first open baker. I love the shape of the divded casseroles, but don't like the divided part at all.

Underplate for a Friendship casserole dish, and sage scroll on white.

Ivy, orange 502, moon deco, and a percolator.

I started a teeny Pyrex collection for my son (due in August). My husband rolled his eyes, but look how cute the trains are! I'm trying to find the plate, but nothing yet.

I also finally finished my fridgie rainbow. I made this silly goal when I started collecting that I would get the smallest fridgie in every colour. Technically I'm missing opal and delphite, but I'm still calling it done, and it only took three years!

I wish I had taken this picture when the shelf was a bit more full and actually had more turquoise and pink on it, but here is the Pyrex wall at Lulu & Lolie (a booth in an antique market in Pickering, Ontario, Canada..1400 Squires Beach Rd if you're interested in stopping by)...

Calling Pyrex Collectors

Hello there,

A woman by the name of Catherine May emailed me with a request. She works for a Toronto television company that is producing a new series called Collectors which features various collectors throughout Canada and the U.S. She would love to find a rabid vintage Pyrex collector to feature on the show.

If you are interested, please email Catherine at catherine@acrhitect-films.com

Nesting mixing bowls

I have bought a few sets of cinderella nesting bowls for a couple friends and ran upon this one at Clarksville Missouri Antique Mall, they had a pink set also, however both my friends have the pink sets thanks to me

I should be a picker, guess I am in some ways , every time I am out shopping antique malls and flea markets I see items I know certain people would like

I don't know the name of all the pyrex sets but I do know she will love this turquoise color

These will go out UPS to Savannah Georgia to Cheryl Day at Back in the Day Bakery

Lid Luck!

This week I was lucky enough to find THREE lids that seem to be very elusive to find by themselves in the wild. A space saver lid, a 473 & a 043. They've all got wonderful homes.

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to find this beautiful lid:

I had passed on the casserole itself with a clear lid at an antique market in Michigan on Boxing Day for cheap thinking the odds are finding the lid were nil.

If you're bored, come check out my other finds from this week

Can you help this woman out? Value Village in Spokane, WA

I'm sorry to high-jack the collective, but I know this blog has a higher readership than my personal blog. A woman on the Value Village Facebook page posting about accidentally donating a box of her parents belongings after they passed away recently among other items donated - about 20-30 Hummel figures at the Sprague store in Spokane, WA. You can send her a message via Facebook (find her in the stream). She'd really like them back & she's willing to purchase them back.

Starbursts & Polka Dots!

I picked up two nice Pyrex pieces recently. I was happy to find this green polka dots mixing bowl to help finish a set -- now all I need is the yellow one!
I also go this starburst casserole & I just love it!
When I went online, though, to try to find out about the pattern & history, I saw one just like it that ended up selling on Ebay for $120! Can any of you tell me about it -- when it was made, if it was a promotional, what the pattern name is, etc? Do any of you know why it would sell for so much? I'm assuming it was bidder's frenzy and that two people just REALLY wanted it a lot! Regardless of how much it's worth, it's not leaving my collection any time soon!

Thanks for anything you can tell me about it!

A Little Green

Hello, Pyrex friends! It's been a long time since I've posted here, but I found a cute little bowl today at a flea market to share with you, the perfect St. Patty's Day lucky surprise!

A #441 green and white Cinderella bowl in the "Ivy" pattern. I think it was the dip bowl to a promotional set, but feel free to correct me on any of that, if it's wrong.

I was happy to make a deal on this, in any case. Nothing wrong with that! (The bunny was a fun find too.)

Charcoal Snowflake

This is my new piece of Charcoal Snowflake, it's a 548B - 1 1/4 quart - is this a space saver? It's really small, I've never seen one this size before.

This is my Charcoal collection, it's my very favourite pattern - I always thought the dish in the stand was a space saver - it's a JAJ piece. I thought I read once that there were two different sizes?

I had some other neat finds this week, if you care to read about them, click here

Load of Pyrex at the Thrift

Hey PC1, it's SixBalloons here! I stopped in at my local thrift recently and realized that someone must have dropped off a big load of pyrex!

I scooped up a daisy casserole but also saw a Butterprint mixing bowl (badly dishwashered) and a perfect golden compass snack server. I am pained to think of what else I missed out on. I bet there was some good condition butterprint that walked out the door without me!

I also bought another lil something that I will share with you later in the week! Stop by sometime to say hello at http://sixballoons.blogspot.com!

Lil Bub lubs Pyrex!

The most popular cat on the internet right now, Lil Bub, apparently loves Pyrex! This blue butterprint bowl appears in the background of a couple of Lil Bub's Friday Zone videos!

Fabulous Fridgies

Hey PC1ers! It's SixBalloons here!

I picked up a new fridgie and reunited it with a spare lid I had at home.

It's actually a doubled up piece now but I use them all the time so I justified paying almost eight bucks for it!

Love the fridgies but still pining after a Heinz teal baker whic I have never seen in real life... =)

Who is the maker of these bowls?

I saw these bowls today at Value Village, nothing I would add to my collection, but I was curious to find out who made them. Anybody know? I was guessing Glasbake. I once saw a set of Glasbake nesting bowls that look quite similar to Pyrex ones, with similar paint as these in the picture. Photo credit goes to my boyfriend. Next time I'll have to supervise.

They are deeper & more narrow than a set of Cinderella bowls, but have the same handle & spoutage as them.

The Pyrex Drug Connection

Over on Pyrex Collective III last month, Christina highlighted a strange fashion trend involving the word Pyrex. It turns out that Pyrex has become a popular slang term because the tempered glass can be used to cook crack cocaine. You might've already noticed that if you browse #pyrex on Instagram, it's a mix of pretty vintage housewares and drug paraphernalia. So I made a Storify explaining it: Pyrex: Collectible Vintage Housewares or Crack Cocaine Tool?

The more you know!

Holiday Promotional Casserole

1961, right? Always thought that it was 1961, then when I was Googling about it after finding it (always do it, no matter what I find), Pyrex Love lists it as 1960, but the main URL of the page still says 1961. Just want to confirm the date, since maybe Pyrex Love knows something I don't & updated the info, but not the URL.
