Cleaning the Daisies!

Hi Pyrex friends!  I recently found this little gem of Pink Daisy goodness at a thrift and have embarked on a very lengthy journey of spiffing it back up to its original glory!

I have documented the various stages of cleanliness over on my blog, and while it now looks much better than it did when this photograph was taken, I still need some help...

Anyone who loves a good makeover story or has any cleaning suggestions might want to pop over and take a peek to see what I've done and what still needs doing-I'd really appreciate any tips and tricks!

I made cornbread in Pyrex!

I made cornbread last night. I was having flash backs of childhood. I have no problems using my bowls to mix stuff up in. It's when I have to bake something in the oven.

That is when I kinda sorta panic and say NO BAKING in the precious Pyrex!!

I am just now using my Pyrex. Actually using it. Ok not all. Some. Ok just a few.
LOOK what my thrifty store does to me sometimes.
They write in marker on the Precious Pyrex.
I wanted to say WHO DID THIS?
Who is the one that keeps writing on the Precious Pyrex?
What is wrong with you people!

It's not GW or SA. It's my hidden gem of a store. I found 3 fridge dishes there. 2 red 1 blue. No lids. I left one red behind cause it was way way way way ultra way scratched up and way beyond faded that you could hardly make out that it was red. I did not feel guilty for leaving it behind either. If it was just faded I would have bought it. Oh and the reds had a sticker on it yet they felt the urge to mark on the blue?

Well your going to cringe when I tell you what I did to get this off. I used everything I could think of. I first just used water, soap and a towel. Not helpful. I used a cotton ball window cleaner. Nope. I then tried rubbing it off with spit and my shirt. So not helpful. I then saw nail polish remover next to the window cleaner. I used it. Very little. I was like well I rather see it faded in this area than that 2.99 mark on there for the rest of its life. Cause I already have one of those and I did not want another. So I used it. It took it right off. I am not going to recommend this. I am unsure of what will happen to your pattern or color. For me it just came off and no fading happened to my Pyrex.
See I already have one of these. I really don't want another.
I think it came off because the dish still had lots of color and was not faded like this dish was. There is no way to get off that 2.99 on the pink. I tried everything including the Magjic Eraser. I use this dish in the bathroom turned the other way so I don't have to see the number. I store my soap and goodies in there. What do you recommend on permanent marker? Do your stores do this to you?

Question Time!

Wow, you all have some fabulous collections and photos!  What I mostly have are questions, questions, and more questions.  Can you ever learn enough about Pyrex?  I think not!

Ooops, I almost forgot.
I'm Mary from Mom Wald's Place.  How are ya all doin'?  Good?  Good!  Now let's get back to the Pyrex.

Give me baked on grease to clean off of Pyrex, and I'm your gal.  How in the world do you fix this, though?  Thoughts?
As soon as it's spiffy looking I'm going to take a lovely, beautiful photo of it.  A photo that Jeni would be proud of!  Then I'll share it properly.  Thanks in advance for your help!
