My Second Pixie

These little guys seem to be rather hard to find at the thrifts.  Perhaps they're easy to overlook since they're so small...the perfect size for tucking away behind a larger piece.

And finally, my first ever thrifting find of a complete set (and an affordable one at that - $12.99).  Too bad I already had at least one of the cinderellas.  Oh well.

And then there was the stuff that was just too cute to pass up...

Portraits

Hi Pyrex friends!  I've recently found some amazing pieces to add to my collection and thought I'd pop over and share just a couple of their portraits.

If you'd like to read the full (slightly rambly) story plus see some of the other great pieces I've found, please pop on over to my little blog and take a peek!

Wishing you all successful Summer hunting!

my newest (pyrex) family members

i know i have said it a thousand times before... but trading pyrex is the way to go! it has taken my collecting to a whole new level (haha do i sound like an addict?)
recently i saw this beauty...
i put my piece in the mail and to my surprise it was much larger than i expected!
my most recent trade was a sandalwood casserole for this cute sugar and creamer set

but not all my finds are freebies... i recently ran across this spring blossom for just $3. and yes, i already have it. but who could say no?

Snowflakes

Just wanted to share my latest additions...and my new love for the Snowflake pattern.

I got a late Christmas gift from my friend Chelsa. She knows how much I love Pyrex and she gave me the perfect gift!! -- a Pyrex bowl that she already owned but knew that I would love and treasure. She was right!

It goes perfectly with the butter dish and very large casserole that I found at the thrift store recently. I LOVE this large casserole dish and didn't even know that Pyrex made one this big until I discovered this one. I haven't baked anything in it yet but I have plans for a big mac daddy Mac & Cheese soon. :)

Soon after I received the mixing bowl, I found an Ad on Craig's List for some beautiful Pyrex (finding Pyrex on my local CL is a rarity so I was super excited about this). One of the items in the Ad was this casserole below. It's now mine! :) I'll post the other items I got from CL soon.

I am loving the snowflake pattern and can't wait to add on more pieces!

Happy Pyrex hunting this week!

Happy Pyrex New Year!

I'm not entirely sure what the proper protocol is on wishing *Happy New Year* to your friends (I think it's safe until MLK day?!) but, HAPPY NEW YEAR from Leah @ Storybook Ranch!!

I just wanted to share a couple of photos from our New Years spread, where we used the heck out of our Pyrex. A while ago, I made a promise before the Pyrex Gods that I would only keep pyrex with the color BLUE. It sure makes things easier for me.

The clear, lidded pyrex dishes are perfect for keeping dips chilled and for storing left overs, as well as for serving.
No transferring from serving dish to storage needed!

Here we used a Blue Amish Butterprint Bowl to hold shrimps and white butterprint casseroles to hold the chips.

In addition to Butterprint, we also used a Snowflake Divided snack dish  (sushi)
and a oblong casserole to hold our dipping breads.

pyrex sighting: starter for 10

i just finished watching the movie, starter for 10. i had never heard of the movie before. it is set in the 80's, and one scene where they were eating christmas dinner had copious amounts of pyrex. the snowflake pattern, and another i didn't recognize. it may have been "gourmet" or "blue barcode" but i couldn't quite tell. the movie was set in the UK so perhaps it was a pyrex england pattern? i have looked everywhere for a screen capture, but couldn't find one.

anyone seen it? i'd say it was a good movie, but that may just be the pyrex talking ;)

and here's something pretty to look at, since i have no related photos to share...

have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Snowflake Garland Mixing Bowls

Hello Pyrex Collective, it's SixBalloons here!

Just wanted to share a recent festive find I made - a couple of Snowflake Blue or Snowflake Garland mixing bowls. These will come in handy over the holidays! I would say I prefer this pattern over the aqua snowflakes because it seems more delicate... What do you think?

Unfortunately the days are really short now that it's December and it's hard to get good photos in before the sun sets. Sorry for the shadows! I'm going to work on a DIY light studio project soon, so hopefully the dreary days won't hold me back. =)

Make sure to stop by and say hello sometime at SixBalloons as I have had good luck at the thrift lately and I can't wait to share it with you!

my "snowy" pieces

vonlipi asked us to share out christmas pyrex pieces... and the closest i have are these blue snowflake bowls.
i also have this adorable casserole dish
down here in the deep south, we don't see that much snow (and i am a-ok with that) but these dishes bring some flurries into my house.
i can't wait to see everyone else's wintery pyrex!!

Butter Dishes

The other day my better half asked me if we really needed all those butter dishes in the cupboard....

I was going to say YES YES YES! But then I realized that we hadn't put butter in a butter dish since FOREVER!

Of course as a MAJOR Pyrex hoarder I want all my pieces with me all the time....The Pyrex channel...Just Pyrex....24 hours a day!

But as a somewhat reasonnable person, I will put them away in the basement and just keep one in the cupboard in case I have company and need to serve butter...

Now which one would you keep?
