Yuck!

This weekend I picked up a divided casserole for an amazing deal. Check out the pictures to see why...

Blech! It was so filthy. I can only assume it came from a crazy hoarder's house. It's a safe assumption no?
I took it home and put it in the sink filled with hot soapy water for a few hours and then emerged this...

Hard to believe it's the same pan right? Soap and water did this. Behold the magic of Pyrex! So easy to clean. I wonder why the crazy hoarder never bothered to clean it?

I bought it thinking it was Daisy yellow, that's how dirty it was, it seemed like another color! It looks to be Butterfly Gold which isn't a color I collect. Would anyone here like to trade for it? I'm on the hunt for Orange 404, 402 and 401 bowls and a Daisy Yellow 404.

Frankly I'm a sucker for any orange, daisy yellow and aqua piece so if you're interested let me know!

Long Overdue Pyrex Trade Update

Back in May, I engaged in my first trade with Jenna at Jenna Designs (she's over on Pyrex Collective II).  After a few mishaps with shipping that I griped about here, it turned out to be very fun!  And to top it off, weeks after our trade, I opened my mailbox to discover that the lovely and talented Jenna had made and sent me this adorable clutch.  How cute is that?

What a great group of Pyrex folks!  More about the trade in my post here.

For Trade!

So the living room/ dining room redo is almost over and now it is time to re-evaluate the massive stock pile of glass ware (I.E. pyrex...) Well most of it is Pyrex! hehe

Here is some of the Pyrex I have to trade so far....

A large 503 bright orange fridgie from the Daisy set. The smaller one is kind of spoken for....for the time being.

A Pink 502 fridgie. The lid has changed....it is now a pre-1950 lid, with just stripes on the sides.

A lovely JAJ english Pyrex fridgie.

A small Woodland casserole with lid.

 A Horizons divided casserole.

A small Frienship casserole sans lid.

A Laurel RW platter

A Red Kettle RW serving platter

I am sure I have more pieces up for trade but I haven't got the time yet to go through the boxes!

Here are some of the pieces I'm looking for:

The very elusive metal chip and dip clip
A 2 1/2 quarts 045 Charcoal Snowflake casserole
A 502 and 503 Gooseberry
2 salad/dessert Flamingo plates (Pyrex dinnerware)

Now if you're interested but you don't have what I'm looking for don't hesitate and write me because you might have a piece that I don't even know I need!

All my pieces have been used but gently some have scratches, but NOTHING has been in the dishwasher and they don't have chips.

My email address is in my profile and drop my blog also I love your visits !

Have a great evening :)

My First Two Trades!

Cosmo casserole from Elizabeth, unusual Square Flowers casserole from Jenna, and recently thrifted Horizon/Scrolls cinderella bowl

A few weeks back you might remember my rant about the ridiculous price an antique mall dealer put on a Cosmopolitan Casserole.  Well, fellow Pyrex Collective-ite Elizabeth posted a comment to say that she actually had the bottom of the casserole (to match the lonely lid that I had found).  After a few emails, the Cosmo bottom was on its way to me, while a couple of butterfly gold pieces were on their way to Elizabeth.  I can't tell you how excited I am to finally have a complete Cosmo!!

This was actually only my second trade - the first one being a great trade with Jenna (from Pyrex Collective II).  Ok, let me qualify that - a great trade for me....not so great for her as the *#@* post office decided to manhandle the package I sent and two of the pieces arrived in, well, pieces.  Word of advice - Insurance!

Needless to say, I was very nervous about the post office's performance for my second trade with Elizabeth, but lo and behold, package insurance does wonders for encouraging them to *be careful*!

Anyway, thanks ladies for the great trades!  More photos of the rest of my trade with Jenna coming soon to my website... Harriet and Quince

BIG trade

i recently shipped out a HUGE box of woodland dishes to Studio Reb

and in return she sent me all kinds of new colonial mist to add to my shelves.

and as luck would have it... while i was waiting for the shipment to arrive, i found a twin bowl for $2 at a thrift store.
i've never seen a clear bowl with a pattern on it. does anyone know if there are other patterns that come like this?

so for anyone who is going through a dry spell in the hunting department, trades are always a great way to add to your stash.

latest haul

i was originally going to break this up into a couple of posts, but honestly i was too excited about my latest finds so i decided to share them all now.

i found my first ever cradle!! and i only paid $1i also saw a black scroll divided dish for the first time "in the wild".

although it is very nice, it isn't really my style and i plan on posting it for trade (and if any of you are interested in it, i'm looking for a 404, 471 and a butter dish in turquoise butterprint and you can e-mail me at taylorebarnhill@yahoo.com )

moving on... here's the BEST part of the shopping trip!

if you want to see the other non-pyrex thrifted items i brought home... check it out here.

someone said it earlier and i wholeheartedly agree: something is in the air and its blooming pyrex!

my newest (pyrex) family members

i know i have said it a thousand times before... but trading pyrex is the way to go! it has taken my collecting to a whole new level (haha do i sound like an addict?)
recently i saw this beauty...
i put my piece in the mail and to my surprise it was much larger than i expected!
my most recent trade was a sandalwood casserole for this cute sugar and creamer set

but not all my finds are freebies... i recently ran across this spring blossom for just $3. and yes, i already have it. but who could say no?

Pyrex Trade!

I made my first Pyrex trade!
My new friend Taylor and I hooked up on the Flickr Pyrex For Trade group and got to talking. You got this? How 'bout this? You want this for this? And so on... :) Finally we decided on a trade. Some people might think I am crazy for trading a coveted Butterprint bowl, but, hey I wanted something else!

I had quite the issue finding a box until I went to Wal-Mart and found these awesome boxes for .88¢! I bought quite a few of them for later use. I packed up the precious Butterprint with peanuts and foam and newspaper. It's not moving an inch!

In return I got this Spring Blossom quart with lid :) I use quarts quite often and I only need one more to complete this set. Maybe someone wants to trade if they have one?? Hehe!

Of course I'm going to add her pretty red bubble wrap to my shipping supplies. Reuse, recycle! So if anyone wants to trade with Taylor visit her Pyrex Flickr trade set and check out my Flickr set too. Have a great day everyone!

If you have some pieces you would like to trade you can find my contact info on my blog, Tall Glass of Water, or contact me through my Flickr page.

My goal is to complete my Woodland fridge set. Yes, I once said that I thought Woodland was ugly. But it has grown on me :) Do you participate in this flicker group? I think it's such a great idea. Hope I get some bites on my pieces!
