The Pyrexia has struck again!
I was talking to a lady at work last Friday when she mentioned a flea market in a nearby town that she had a booth in. I had never been there, so I asked her more about it. My big question was if there was any Pyrex in her booth (she was selling off the remnants of her parents estate that nobody in the family wanted) and she responded that yes there was, and she had several pieces still at her house. Noting to myself that I needed to see if I could see what she still had at her house sometime, I got directions to the flea market and headed out right after work. It was a great store with amazing prices. I mentioned this place on my blog today, and as I said there, I am keeping all details about this store confidential! Anyway, I picked up three pieces of Pyrex (although I had to really restrain myself - there was a lot in that place!).
So, the top piece is an Opal 1 1/2 quart divided dish marked # 1063. It is a different shape than the standard Pyrex divided serving dish, and I have only ever seen it in Opal and Delphite. I was quite pleased to find this, and it was 50% off... or 75 cents! Second, on the lower left is a turquoise Snowflake divided dish, and on the lower right is a Town & Country divided dish. Total for all three pieces before tax was $6.70. What a deal!
I am including a couple of photos to show the difference between the shape of the Opal glass dish and the standard divided dish.
As you can see, the handles on the Opal dish are much different. The whole dish is more rounded, especially on the sides and bottom.

Hard Copy
Here's what the article looked like in print. I want to send out love to Jeni from In Color Order for the gorgeous pics. I wish they could have used more pics from more bloggers. I think we could do a book of Pyrex photos. Anyway, you'll all agree that her pictures make the piece special. P.S. If you're new to this blog, Jeni created the banner for the Pyrex Collective and you can upload a Jeni photograph button for your blog over on the right.

Thanks to all who inspired this story - you!
My favorite thrift store find so far!
Hey it's Katie from Katieebee!
I'm super excited today :D
I never make it a point to go out to yard sales early Saturday mornings, especially when I have the morning off. But today I did for some reason. Every yard sale I hit was terrible. Probably because I went at like 10 AM and not earlier. So I decided to try my luck at a few thrift stores.
The first one I went to I had no luck, but my second and last stop was Goodwill. I always seem to find my best treasures sitting on the cart they roll out of things that are about to be displayed. I was getting ready to leave when I spotted the most amazing Pyrex find I have ever came across in a thrift store!
I grabbed this thing SO fast and tried not to squeal with excitement :D
I don't know the exact name or year of this Pyrex bowl. But I do know the yellows are hard to come by! This is my first yellow piece, and probably now my favorite piece I own :) Its got some scratches that you can see when its put under light, but over all in pretty good condition. Finding this made all the other pointless stops worthwhile.

Speaking of Pyrexia....
As with any disease...we use excuses! Like I'm leaving my job so I'll reward myself with....Food? no, booze? no, Pyrex??? well yes!
I could not resist when I spotted these cutties on Etsy! By the way there was no wine involved!!!

HUM! 2 Bluegrass restaurant ware platters....
I can't wait to use them! I use my other Pyrex platters all the time! Even a sandwich and a handfull of chips look and taste so much better in Pyrex!
Thank you Erin for the super fun article and thank you for the title, lol!
I love talking to you and sharing Pyrex stories :)

A Flea to Get LOST in!
n the way home from Kingston, Ont we decided to stop at a flea market we had recently heard about. Heck I don't even know its name!
All I can tell you is that it's in Morrisburg, Ont, it's held every Sunday from 8 to 4 and there's tons of interesting thingies!
It doesn't look like much from the outside but it is huge inside! There are different levels, at least 4! Since we arrived at 3pm and it closes at 4....We were running all over the place trying to see everything!
You know how I am with Pyrex! I couldn't help myself and I took some pics!
Yummy casseroles!
Those were really pricey...sad face.
Those pics were all from the same booth! Is that crazy or what? There was a booth with just Depression glass and one with just Jadeite!!! Ever wonder where all the Jadeite went? ALL IN ONTARIO! LOL
We will go back for sure!

golden hearts, green bowls
This Golden Hearts promo piece (ca. 1958) is my latest gifted score! I ♥ it, if you know what I mean! It's in excellent condition. The lid was mine...
My sister, who was visiting from out of town, bargained it down to a reasonable six bucks and then treated me to it. We went thrifting together and, since we both collect Pyrex, were neck and neck in competition to find any and all Pyrex. She had to be very discriminate in her purchases since she'd be hauling heavy Pyrex back across the country in her backpack. Much to her delight, she found the green mixing bowl (I already own 3!). Fast forward a few days: she was scheduled to leave out of Miami the same night the airport was evacuated due to that professor's sketchy baggage. She took a photo outside the airport as she was waiting out the scare...she didn't quite have room in her bag for her beloved green bowl!
