Happy (Belated) Easter Pyrex

We have an Easter tradition in my family. My mom hides Easter eggs on her porch every year, and I get to find them. It's a great tradition. I open up the eggs, and inside each egg is a treat! So what if I am 40 years old??? We love tradition, and I love my Easter egg hunt! I plan to keep doing it 'til I'm 80 and my mom's 100+!

This year, when I opened up one of my eggs, there was a little note inside that read simply: "PYREX".

And here is what my dear Mom presented to me!

So I took it home and found it a perfect spot next to another favorite Pyrex piece...

Two peas in a pod. Just like me & my mom!

Happy Belated Easter to everyone -- and don't forget to stop by and see me at The 1972 Retro Weight Watchers Experiment where I blog about my adventures in 1970's dieting food & fun. It's a hoot!

Recent Finds...But Not By Me!

Last week my six year old had the thrill of finding her first piece of Pyrex- an Aqua Snowflake divided dish!  We were both ecstatic!  It is a bit grimy, but I'm not worried...I bought some Bar Keepers Friend, and I know it will clean right up.  This is my first Aqua piece in this pattern (I have black), and the black and Aqua will look amazing together!

My eleven year old found this recently:
A beautiful Americana 404 bowl with the stand.  Does anyone know if they came together?   I'm so glad I have extra eyes!

Delphite Side Plates!

Hello Pyrex Collective, it's SixBalloons here! I have finally found a couple more Delphite pieces to add to my Delphite Casserole...

I almost missed these guys on the shelf at the Value Village. At three dollars a piece, I was a bit unsure, but in the end the delicate feel of these plates sealed the deal for me. I also find that the Delphite material is unique with its translucence... it looks like a different colour when the sun is shining on it, or how you look at it. Fascinating!

I have already used one of the plates as a helper in my garden over the weekend, as I've been planting little onion sets. Check it out over at sixballoons.blogspot.com!

Addictions......

Since I don't have friends that feed my Pyrex addiction like Amy C. does, I have to feed it myself!! And boy, do I feed it!! Too much so most of the time! Anyway, this is what I fed my addiction with this past weekend thrifting and antiquing.

Aqua Snowflake Casserole

Pink Desert Dawn Baking Dish

Yellow & Black 442 Gooseberry

Kim Chee Promo casserole

Pyrex Meat platter

Woodland mugs

Even though I already have this, I couldn't resist it at a price of $2.50!!

Pressed Flowers

So, all in all, I think my addiction was fed rather well this past weekend. Hope yours was too!! :)

My Recent Loot...

I have had a little Pyrex luck lately, mostly at Goodwill which surprises me because I used to NEVER find Pyrex at Goodwill. They are letting a few pieces slip into the store instead of putting them in their online auctions. :)

Waffle House Platter (found at Goodwill)

Yellow Desert Dawn Pie Plate (found at antique store)

It has speckles of red on it.

HUGE Pie Plate (I think it's really old based on the mark on the bottom...any feedback on this is appreciated!)
50 cents at a yard sale

Picture of the two pie plates together so you can see how big the clear one is...I don't normally buy clear Pyrex but thought this one was nice because it is not a normal size you see everywhere.

Marking on the bottom of the clear pie plate.

Cutest little Pyrex casseroles ever!! These are the tiny 10 0z. Pyrex 700's. I had never seen any until I found these at Goodwill ($1.95 for each one). After doing a seach I did find a blue one on Etsy...I'm guessing these are kind of rare?

Pictured with a small fridgie dish for size reference. Aren't they cute?? And in my favorite colors!

Some lids from Goodwill (I think they were like 55 cents each) I don't have any casseroles that fit these...YET! You never know when you might need them in the future. :)

Small red & blue fridgies (from a yard sale)

Orange Harvest Bowl - $2.75 (from a flea market)

3 Golden Butterfly Mugs (the real Pyrex kind, not Corelle!) from Goodwill

A large & small cradle (from Goodwill)...I have no oval casseroles yet but I will someday and these will be perfect for them!

I was disappointed I only got to go to 1 yard sale this weekend...did anyone else venture out to some and find anything good?
