Bragging!

I want to brag a bit about my Pyrex findings in the past week - I won the 2 bowls and small casserole at an auction, $12 for the 3 pieces - I think maybe they are all from the Verde sets??   Today was my lucky day at Value Village  - two Shenandoah casseroles - in perfect shape.  I also picked up this Corelle Woodland platter last week - I saw two in one day - both the same pattern!

Store 'N See Happiness!

A few days ago I was lucky enough to score seven Store 'N See canisters at a Goodwill. I love these containers and only had two up until now. I've been on the look out for more for a couple of years, so imagine my surprise at this big stash!

Then the very next day at an estate sale I picked up two more in the Wildflower pattern - it's so pretty. How weird to be on the look out for years, then it starts raining Store 'N See!

At the same sale I picked up two sweet Spice of Life salt and pepper shakers =D

If you'd like to see a couple more pics, visit my blog Atomic Betties. I'm wishing everyone Pyrex hunting luck!

Boyfriend went to Trader Joe's and came back with...Pyrex.
He's rather sneaky, don't you think?!

Pyrex of my dreams...

Today I was very excited to add 3 pieces to my collection from my Wish List:

I've been wanting anything pink or lime green for ages. And I especially wanted a round cake pan, as it's the perfect size for making cinnamon rolls. The recipe makes 6-8 pans of cinnamon rolls,
and this brings my collection of Pyrex cake pans to three (the other 2 are clear). I have to get creatve with my other bakeware to fit in all those cinnamon rolls! I think the new Space Saver 2-quart casserole will come in handy for that :)

Value Village was the Pyrex motherlode today! I had a hard time deciding which pieces to bring home and which had to stay behind. You can check out the Pyrex left behind on my blog. More and more I'm finding VV to be overpriced, especially when whoever's working the pricing gun thinks something is collectible. The hefty prices made my decisions easier.

My First Verde

Had an interesting trip recently when crossing the border. We had been thrifting in Burlington, Toronto, Hamilton & Niagara Falls & decided to cross over to Buffalo in our rented car to check out some stores, pick up some Cherry Coke & some snacks.. around 5PM. When questioned about where we were going, we were basically going to play it by ear, even though I already told him that when you cross the border you tell them exactly where you are headed. He tells them we`re going shopping.. he asks us where.. he says in the mall downtown Buffalo.. he says there is no mall downtown Buffalo. Why are you crossing the border at 5:30PM?, he asks. Where is your rental agreement? Boyfriend forgot it in the apartment.

"Pop your trunk."

Scattered in the trunk the customs officer sees a 500 piece New Kids On The Block puzzle, a 1960`s Verde Pyrex divided dish, Christmas wrapping paper & tags, vintage Made In Japan horse figurines, used bed linens, a Holly Hobbie one time use tablecloth - NIP (so glad they didn`t open it!), Lily Tomlin & Connie Francis records.

I`d have liked to see the look on the guys face. Not something you`d expect to see in the trunk of 2 adult male men going across the border.

"Whose stuff is this?"
"Get out of the car, leave the keys in it & follow me."

Anyways, my first piece of Verde & my first divided dish. We never made it to any thrift stores in Buffalo.. I was astonished to find out they have such bizarre business hours!

Yours truly,
Sir Thrift-A-Lot

Loved this idea...

Last week a member shared this idea, and I thought it was fantastic! Now I want to bake all kinds of thinks in every shape and size of Pyrex and see what happens! So I divided my favorite bread recipe (using half the sugar recommended) between various size pans. Every loaf and roll was gigantic! The kids got a kick out of having their own mini loaves for their after school snacks.
Notice the other Pyrex on the go in the background.
