My most expensive piece of pyrex

i saw this piece at an antique store last week and *gasp!* took it out of the cart when hubby put it in there.much too expensive for me-$39.i have never paid that much for an entire set of something let alone one piece!but after hearing hubby talk about how much he wanted it we decided to see if it was still there....and it was plus we got 10% off-not much but better than nothing :).so what is so wonderful about this piece to spend so much on?let's take a look at some pics!

ooooohhhhh is that an original box?yes it is ladies!

yes that is an unused piece with the original tag on the lid too!(eat your heart out....LOL)
and the pamphlet too!1961 promotional complete w/cradle and unused in the box-lovingly wrapped in newpaper from sept 1960(also fun to look at :))
i never thought i would spend that much on one piece but i would think it would be pretty rare to fine a promo unused and complete in the box so i splurged.plus hubby really wanted it(he loves the promos)and what a horrible wife i would be to deny him something he wants so much!(heehee)

  4. "eat your heart out" -- i am, i am! wow!! it's gorgeous. and if you think of how much it would cost to buy a brand new casserole, like say french white, in the stores today, you'll realize $39 is nothing for this beauty with so much history behind it.

so. will you bake in it? :)

  10. I would be so excited if I came upon something like that - it's beautiful. I didn't buy a carafe in the original box, it was $2.99 and I've been thinking how crazy I was to not have bought it!! Buyers remorse!!

  13. Oh, BTW - if for some reason my husband should die an untimely death and you divorce your husband - I'm coming after this man LOL. You are a lucky woman to have a guy that not only understands your Pyrex addiction, but enables you. Work it!
