Pinch Me

Have you ever had a dream in which someone approaches you out of the blue and presents you with a bag full of Pyrex? Me too. This morning, after running the gauntlet to get to work (dropping son off at daycare, missing bus, having to take an extra long way to get to work to avoid a $20 cab ride and barely making it in before the school bell rang), an angel of Pyrex mercy came strolling down the school hallway and did just that.

It was Mary Lou, our most esteemed Office Administrator. She is the heart and soul of our school and I love her dearly. She makes jewelry and is the go-to person on staff if you need information on just about anything. She reads a lot and loves an off-colour laugh - so she's tops in my books.

Mary Lou remembered that I have Pyrexia, so when she cleaned out her mother's old Pyrex, she thought of me.
Strike the harp and join the chorus - my first ever fridgies!!!! I thought I'd have to be content lusting after everyone else's fridgies and now I have my own. Thank you Mary Lou!
How do I love thee, Spring Blossom? Let me count the ways. Seriously, I spent a few minutes fondling these little fridgies after I got home when nobody was looking. They fit in your hand like a little purse, or a dwarf bunny. So good. I know, it's weird.
And here they are together - one happy, fridgie Pyrex family. I'm still pinching myself and I'm not sure how I'll ever pay Mary Lou back. I guess I'm just going to have to fly Johnny Depp to Toronto and have him anoint her feet with Johnny oil.
And here's my Spring Blossom family with the lidless loaf dish, recently thrifted at Goodwill for a $1.99. Look at this crazy pile of Pyrex. Please excuse our unfinished kitchen. If I had a dime for each time those wires have almost gauged out my eyeballs. I don't care anymore. I've got fridgies. Have I mentioned how happy I am?

I hope this magic moment will bring frosted lucky Pyrex charm to you all in 2011.
Erin, the happy fridgie owner.
