White Pyrex

I just about passed this one by - have you seen white Pyrex before?   At first, I thought it might have been a piece that had spent a bit too much time in the dishwasher, it only cost 50 cents so I bought it and after researching, I find  it really is a piece of  Pyrex and it's called white or opal white - there's a full set of mixing bowls - this is the little 401....   And, if you care to see the beautiful Pyrex I got for Christmas - come on over to my blog - it really is a sight to behold - to me anyways!!

Blue Pyrex Mixing Bowl in Terrible Condition!

Hello Everyone, SixBalloons here! It seems like Christmas has really snuck up on me this year, but I still can't wait... especially for a full week off of work. =)  I have been cleaning the house of some of my junk I have been accumulating, for bringing to the thrift store.

I couldn't help picking up this 401 Primary Blue Mixing Bowl at the thrift for 50¢... But what terrible condition!

Hopefully someone else will love it! Feel free to visit my post on Things I Regret Buying at the Thrift Store - I'd love to hear about whether you Pyrex hounds out there share my problem on accumulating junk!

Another note - can you believe that Pyrex Collective I now has 400 followers?! That is one crazy milestone.

Bowls!

I managed to snag some bowls in the Daisy yellow. I bought these from a seller on etsy. I've only seen the 401 at flea markets and it's always in sad shape the the seller usually wants $10 for it and is unwilling to go lower.

I paid a little more than I would've liked for them but they are in great shape, they're the exact school bus yellow I love and my birthday is Tuesday. I've scored some pieces for one or two dollars so I figure it all evens out.

Road Trips and Pyrex

Hi Pyrex-loving friends!
Last weekend the boyfriend and I decided to hop in our car and go exploring in our grand state of Washington.  We ended up in a gorgeously sparse corner of the state, and setting up camp in a rambling gorge carved out during an ancient flood of epic proportions.
We of course had to stop at every thrift, antique, and junk shop we happened to spy on Google Maps along the way.
Thus making what was supposed to be a four hour journey an alarming eight hour journey.

But it was totally worth it, for at one of the scarier junk shops (and I don't use that phrase lightly...I thought it was going to collapse around us), in a corner, on the floor, covered in dust and hidden by one of it's blue-hued cousins, was this little bowl.
Now, it was a bit more than I would normally pay for a little piece of Pyrex ($8).  But when I saw it and sifted through the Rolodex in my brain, I had a glimmer of realization that this little bowl wasn't just any bowl.
But I just couldn't quite remember what it was...

...until today when I finally sat down at my little computer and did a bit of research.
I do believe I have me the top half of the Pineapple Party Chip and Dip set!

Happy dance, happy dance!

My New Butterprint..

Two pieces from the same Goodwill, one I had never visited before. They had a couple of other Pyrex pieces, not Butterprint pattern, but both in horrible condition (so sad to see!).

I immediately spotted the #401, priced right at $2.02. It was quite grimy, but cleaned up very well. Upon further digging, the #442 turned up for $3.03. In good, it has some utensil marks inside & out, you may be able to see them in the photo.

All in all, a good day!

Yours truly,
Sir Thrift-A-Lot

Craft Supplies + Pyrex = Love

POpping in to share how, or rather where, I keep my yummy spools of twine.

This little Autumn Harvest 401 (found at the thrift for 99 cents) holds them perfectly.

Crafting and Pyrex....does it get any better?

And while I'm here, is anyone else dying for yard sale season to start up for Pyrex hunting?

A home for my junks

I posted this on my regular blog and my thrifting blog but I had to share it here too as all the pieces are one I've documented here.

This was the first project I tackled in my new apartment (I just moved from Seattle to Los Angeles). Luckily all my Pyrex survived the move and have a new happy home.

New Obsession!

I've been collecting Pyrex for 4 years now. At first I hungered for ALL the pieces but as time passed and my collection grew, I started being 'picky' and passing entire patterns.
A couple of weeks ago, I started obsessing about Spring Blossom Green and Crazy Daisy. It made me think of Spring and flowers and sunshine.

So today I changed my display in the kitchen...

Chatting...

My new acquisitions? A small fridgie and the larger refrigerator dish of the Verde set.

Aren't they fresh and sweet?

Well, Well, Well...

The long wait has finally ended (ok three months)...

I finally completed my set with the 401.

I feel so satisfied!

Now on to finding more aqua pieces! Have you seen this? I about died.

401's

I took Monday off from work and my boyfriend and I went on a little road trip up to Maine. He knows of my love of Pyrex (he even got me this book for my birthday!) and so he knew we were stopping at some antique stores along the way :) Let me tell you, I hit the Pyrex motherlode! I haven't had time to photograph everything, but I did get to take a quick pic of these cute little 401's. Spring Blossom is my favorite, the blue primary is my 2nd piece of the set (I already have the yellow primary) and New Dots....well, need I say more? I really had to limit what I got, but luckily my boyfriend treated me to some pieces too :) I'll share more over the weekend - happy hunting!
