This is the only Pyrex....

I've found since I got back from my little vacation to S. Carolina. The gravy boat and creamer were taped together, and even though I already have one of the little creamers, the price($4.00) was too good to pass up. Went into one of the Goodwill stores last week, and they had a 4 piece set of the Early American (which isn't one of my fav patterns)bowls but the price was $49.99!! Yikes!! At Goodwill?? How are the thrift stores prices on Pyrex in your area? High, low, just right? Even the Salvation Army Store is getting outrageous and it used to be very cheap and thrifty.

  1. 1 month ago I would have told you that they were Great in my area...now, I will tell you that GW is smoking something. For several wks now, there has been a large milk white bowl (AH) at GW for $17.00!!! HAHAHAHAHA AndWhatDoYouKno, its still there. They have upped their pyrex by a couple bucks. I had been buying for $3.99 and now they are $5.99, Oy! It aint new people!!!

Im glad I got started on my pyrex addiction before they prices got stupid.

  2. Depends on the day and the people who price I guess. I got a great pink 502 with lid for 99cents last year.

But you're right prices tend to be crazy the minute they see it's a collectable

  3. I make my rounds at Goodwill, St Vincent de Paul and Savers thrift stores...I swear they're on to us collectors and raising prices accordingly :(

  4. Amy,yeah,it seems like in the last few months they've really gone up on their prices here, not only on pyrex, but other things that they "think" are vintage!! Gimme a break, it's a thrift store, not an antique store.

  5. I agree depends on the day and who priced it. Sometimes way over the top in pricing and sometimes just right. RARELY a real bargain! Oh and yes I agree, a THRIFT store not an Antique store!

  6. The Goodwill in the next town over {the closest one} is close to retail on what they sell and they will only sell new stuff...it is even too expensive for me for new-ish kids clothes! My closest store is a SA and the guy usually sells me everything for 50% of the cheap price they have marked on it...I usually feel bad!

  8. Don't get me started on Goodwill. Two years ago, prices were good. Now they are very high, and much of the stuff is broken. Somebody must be paying the prices, though, because the Pyrex rarely sticks around long enough to be half off.
