Serendipity

Two weeks ago I was hunting through an antique mall and came across the 2 1/2 QT Black Snowflake casserole. It was 17 bucks (on sale with no lid!) and the bottom was super scratched up and chipped, so I reluctantly put it back. Serendipity was on my side becase three days later I walk into my favorite thrift shop (The Arc, Tempe, AZ) and BAM! I snatched this baby up for four bucks. It didn't have a lid, but since I pick up random pyrex lids whenever I see them, I had a spare. I was so, so happy!

The story gets better! Two days after I score the oval casserole - I'm in a different thrift shop across town and I spot this 2 QT casserole in Black Snowflake! This one had a lid and set me back 8 clams, but I was so excited, I'd have paid anything really. Well, not anything, but a lot!

Here is the pair together - all ready to spread some happy holiday cheer!

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas! I'm looking forward to some post holiday Pyrex pics featuring Christmas feasts =)

  3. Wow - what a lucky week for you! I've got the black snowflake oval dish too, but I've never dared use my pyrex. Silly,really...Finding this blog has given me the courage to start using it! Perhaps going to go black'n'red for our christmas table this year?

  4. I am so jealous!! I looked at a black snowflake (with no lid) yesterday at an antique mall here in town that I frequent occasionaly. They wanted $18.00 for it and wouldn't budge on the price. So sadly, I left it there. :( I am very happy for you though on your wonderful scores!!
