Years of thrifting, and I've never actually seen the Pyrex teardrop mixing bowls in person...until today. I nearly knocked a woman over lunging for a 4 qt spring daisy cinderella bowl, and when I got there, I saw these two lovelies (for an unbelievable $1.99 and $2.99) hiding right behind it (I searched everywhere for the little mini, but to no avail)! I snatched them all up, along with matching white pie and cake plates. Oh happy day! It was quite serendipitous as I'd been drooling over a set of Fire King delphite teardrop bowls at an antique store earlier in the day, but at $95 there was no way they'd ever be mine.
I have to admit that I wanted the scold the former owner of the teardrops for carelessly scratching the insides with utensils, but I couldn't stay mad for long since she did donate them to Goodwill for me to find (thank you). And they're just so cool that I can live with a few scratches - plus now I won't feel guilty for using them.
My last find of the day was Fire King, not Pyrex, but the dappled blue (flecked with white) was too cute to pass up.
Nice scores!! I didn't know there was such a thing as Pyrex Teardrop Mixing bowls....live and learn. I'll certainly be on the lookout for them now. I love the white pyrex, as well as the Spring Daisy!! There's been nothing at my GW's this past week...nothing!!
ReplyDeleteGood hunting. I've never seen tear drop shaped Pyrex.
