Pyrex Rescue

A little thrifting, originally uploaded by jenib320.
I have been feeling totally blue about Pyrex lately! I have been having terrible luck finding any. Before today, the last time I found a piece of Pyrex was 2 months ago!

Lace Medallion is one of my favorite patterns. I really love all the turquoise patterns. I saw this piece last week on my weekly thrifting excursion but left it behind. It's in terrible condition. It's definitely been through the dishwasher and seriously mishandled. There is color loss, shine loss, scratches, and stains. I left it behind last week because I knew I'd want to eventually replace it.

When I stopped by today and it was still there, I just couldn't leave it. This is the only time I've ever seen this piece in person, so I figured I might as well pick it up! I brought it home, hopeful that a few tried and true methods would help clean it up. Unforunately nothing seemed to work, but I'm still happy it's here. From far away I forget that it's beaten up! :)

  1. I have a Butterprint casserole in similar condition. While I use all my Pyrex, I find I feel much happier using the beat up one. I don't know why- I guess maybe it's like my Velveteen Rabbit? LOL!

  3. Wow, I love that pattern! I've never seen it out and about either. Boyfriend and I have a few select pieces we've rescued as well, but we intend to use them as cute cacti holders once we have a backyard...which may not be soon, but we're prepared! :)

  4. I haven't come across that one before, but it's gorgeous. I have a green piece that's in pretty shabby condition but it's one I use a lot, I guess because I'm not afraid of wrecking it further.
