Questions....

I don't know why, but I was having a hard time trying to come up with a title for this post....what I'd like to know is...do you collect only Pyrex bowls, cups, plates, etc., or do you collect other types of wares made by Pyrex such as this cheese server? If so, I'd sure love to see them.

Another question...how do you collect Pyrex? Do you randomly buy whatever Pyrex you happen to see for a good price, or do you try to stay with a certain pattern until you get that set complete? I'm pretty much at the stage now where I'm not being very picky. If I don't have it, and it says "Pyrex" on the bottom, and the price is right, then I'll usually buy it no matter what the pattern is. Tell me....I'd love to know....How do you collect Pyrex?? :)

  1. I'm a random buyer, if it's something I don't have and I like it (and have room for it) and it's in good condition. Eventually, it'll probably be completing sets, but for now, random works for me!

  3. I am a random buyer right now also. Mostly because I want bargains and you can't be as picky. Also I do love so many of the patterns. I buy mostly the Pyrex casseroles and bowls but love the Spring Blossom pattern and have picked up a cup & saucer in that pattern. I also buy other items, carafes and old pieces marked Pyrex. I even bought the glass bread tube. LOL!!

Good Luck and keep on sharing your finds! I have never seen the cheese server you are showing but if I saw it at a good price you bet I would!

  4. Ooooh! I love the cheese cloche! It's totally fab and I'd never seen it before!

I started as a totally random buyer, then as I started to run out of space, I buy only if it's love at first sight. Or I get obsessed by a pattern and hunt that down ;)

  5. Wow- I've never seen anything like that cheese server before- very unique! I'm still at the point where I'm collecting nearly everything that crosses my path (at a good price)- with the exception of a few patterns that I'm not too fond of (Old Orchard and Forest Fancies- SORRY!), as well as pieces that have been destroyed by dishwashers.

  6. I buy anything that is old and that is unique. And in good shape. If it's Pyrex, then I buy it.

  7. As for me, I can just stare at those collectors' pyrex...there's no vintage pyrex here where I live...it sucks....I would have to go to ebay or etsy for pyrex...it sucks coz i actually wanna touch the pyrex, see it face to face before i buy them...

  8. I'm also a random buyer for the right price. I am partial to the spring blossom 1 set and I have new Pyrex too.

  9. I am random. I wont buy Pyrex online. I like the thrill of the hunt locally. I do not buy clear pyrex. I am sure I would have bought that wonderful cheese board!!

I have said if Pyrex is really faded I wont buy it. I lied. Depends the colors and or patterns. I do buy more patterns and colors than anything. Cept white. I do not really care for white Pyrex.

I can get really good prices in my thrift stores. some days we have 50% off. which makes the find even more exciting.

I am not sure when I will start being picky. I tried to be picky but I scream PYREX and before I know it I am standing in line. NOW i have passed on the UGLY Pyrex. I didnt care how cheap it was.

  10. I'm a random Pyrex thrift store stalker. I'm tempted by Ebay, but I still love the thrill of the hunt. Even if I know that nine times out of ten, I'll come back empty handed, there's always the odd time I find something truly special. I know we're all about Pyrex here, but I also love Fire King products and my latest discovery - Hazel Atlas (I wish that were my name). If you want to see how holding out for the big thrift store jackpot, check out this post from the summer showing off a Hazel Atlas pot o' gold. Sorry, I don't know how to hot link in the comments. Copy and paste, please.
    Cheers,

  11. I have that cheese server! I am slowly moving from random to more controlled buying and have started making rules for myself.
