It was meant for baking...

Well I read all the posts and I'm quite surprised of the number of lovely members who won't bake in Pyrex.

I understand your concerns but it was meant for baking. See?

Autumn Blush baked in a round Utility dish....

And just yesterday Pecan Brownies baked in a Horizon square baking dish.
 Delicious and no breakage!

  6. I always bake in mine. The only thing you have to watch is extreme temperature changes...so don't run cold water over a hot dish, don't put a hot dish down on cold counter/metal, don't put hot dish into freezer, et cetera. But really those rules apply to ALL dishes, not just Pyrex. People are fearful to use their Pyrex because the modern stuff is highly prone to shattering at even minor bumps/temp changes...but that's due to glass composition and quality not being very good since the 90s.

  8. I do bake in my casseroles, but wouldn't have thought to bake in a bowl, until now!

Do you adjust your oven temp to bake in Pyrex? I've heard you can (should?) reduce it by 25 degrees.

  9. I mainly use my bowls for salads and mixing but would never have thought to bake a cake in a bowl! Brilliant :)

  10. Yes, I have heard that you should reduce the temp by 25 degrees in Pyrex and even watch the cooking times as it could bake quicker in glass. I can't wait to bake a cake in my 475B that I just acquired today!

  11. I love these photos. I had planned to bake in my new(to me)red hostess bowl and now I will. I love to use my Pyrex! Bake away ladies, just be smart when using it. No sudden temp changes!
